NEW FAMILIES

REGISTRATION 2022-23 STILL OPEN
Our Pack welcomes Grades R2 to G5 students from all schools, not only students of HKIS. Prior to joining the Cub Scouts, the new Scouts need to join an existing Den, or form a new Den with 5-8 Scouts.

Please email membership@bsacubscoutshk.org with any questions.
Read more about Cub Scouts in this guide for new families and at Scouting.org.

YOUTH PROTECTION TRAINING
True youth protection can be achieved only through the focused commitment of everyone in Scouting.
  • Youth Protection training is required for all BSA registered volunteers and is a joining requirement.
  • Youth Protection training must be taken every two years. If a volunteer’s Youth Protection training record is not current at the time of recharter, the volunteer will not be re-registered.
After registering at my.Scouting, the training takes about 70 minutes. Click here for a How-To Guide on YPT.
Once complete, email or submit your hard copy certificate to our Registrar or your Den leader.

UNIFORM REQUIREMENT
The Boy Scouts of America has always been a uniformed body. Its uniforms help to create a sense of belonging. They symbolize character development, citizenship training, and personal fitness. Wearing a uniform gives youth and adult members a sense of identification and commitment.

Effective January 16, 2012, HKIS Administration has agreed that Cub Scouts may wear their Class A uniform on days when they have den meetings or den activities. Cub Scouts found to be wearing BSA t-shirts or other BSA apparel will be asked to change into school uniform.

Please note that the Class A uniform consists of:
  • Blue Shirt with correctly placed insignia (brown shirts for Webelos)
  • Neckerchief with slide
  • Belt with belt-loops (if earned)

We will also adhere to this for our Pack Meetings, thus ensuring there is very little confusion. T-shirts etc. are only to be worn for hikes, beach-clean-up and camping. Click here for uniform requirements.

BOBCAT RANK
No matter what age or grade a boy joins Cub Scouting, he must earn his Bobcat badge before he can advance to the rank of Tiger, Wolf, Bear, or Webelos. A boy must complete the Bobcat requirements, which include:

  • Learn and say the Cub Scout motto, the Cub Scout Promise, and the Law of the Pack and tell what they mean;
  • Show the Cub Scout sign, salute, and handshake and tell what they mean; and
  • Show that you understand and believe that it is important to be honest and trustworthy.
