Logos

Cub Scout Logos are available to download on the BSA website: www.myscouting.org

You must log in with a username and password to enter this site. (It's the same site we use for Youth Protection Training).  Once you're logged in, it's a little difficult to find logos on the site, so here is the direct link:

For convenience, here are a few of the logos in color:
  • Cub Scout Logo JPG
  • Cub Scout Logo GIF
  • Cub Scout Logo PNG
  • Boy Scouts of America Logo JPG
  • Boy Scouts of America Logo GIF
There are also black and white logos on the site.  Other logos and formats such as PNG may be available if you Google (e.g. Cub Scout Logo PNG) and search under Images.

Best File Formats?

What File Format Works Best?

For Printing T-Shirts:
  • AI, EPS, PDF - Printers want your business and can usually make the images you supply work, but it's best to ask them what formats they prefer before they start. Vector files created in programs such as Adobe Illustrator (AI), Corel Draw, Gimp and Aviary are best as they can be sized up or down and still look sharp, without jagged edges.

For Printing Posters or Large Format Items:
  • PDF - Before sending graphics to your poster printing company, be sure to ask what file type they accept they will know what works best with the software and equipment they use.  Most printers prefer to receive PDF files created in Adobe Photoshop, but they will accept other formats.  Printers also accept images in JPEG, TIFF and EPS formats. Images should be at least 150 dpi so the resolution does not become blurry when enlarged.

For the Web:
  • GIF - Graphics Interchange Format (GIF) is good for saving logo images on the Website.  GIFs also allow you to preserve transparency so that you can incorporate the image without its background color.  It's not a good format for saving photos or images with many colors.
  • JPG - Joint Photographic Experts Group (JPG or JPEG) format displays photos, colorful and grayscale images well on the Web.  Generally you can compress JPG images however there will be a loss of image quality. JPGs do not preserve transparency, so you will bring in the background of the image too.
  • PNG - Portable Network Graphics (PNG) format works well for the Web and PowerPoint preserving image quality when compressed and preserving transparency without jagged edges.
